Mount Meru standing 4566m is the second highest volcanic mountain of Tanzania located within Arusha National Park. Meru is less crowded compare to Kilimanjaro and trekking duration takes almost 4 days were the climbers spend nights to designated huts along the trail.

Mount Meru Climbing 4 Days / 3 Nights

Day 1: Arusha – Momela Gate – Miriakamba Hut 2500m
Duration: 5 to 7 hours of walking
Enjoy morning breakfast then after followed by transfer to Arusha National Park Gate, then proceed to Momela Gate, the starting point for Meru trekking. After registration start hiking while accompanied by armed ranger due to presence of wild animals on the way. The first hut for dinner and overnight is Miriakamba Hut (2500m).

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut 2500m – Saddle Hut 3500m
Duration: 3 to 5 hours of walking
After breakfast start hiking to the steep trail crossing saddle ridge to reach the second Hut for dinner and overnight. Upon arrival to the camp you can able to extend hiking to reach Little Meru peak standing 3820m for acclimatization or selecting relax at the camp to wait for midnight summit to the socialist peak 4566m above sea level.

Day 3: Saddle Hut 3500m – Summit Socialist Peak 4566m – Miriakamba Hut 2500m
Duration: 7 to 8 hours of walking
At midnight start hiking to finalize the adventure, here you can cross Rhino point 3800m and Cobra point 4350m before reaching the Summit of Meru 4566 meters above sea level. Upon arrival to the summit at sunrise you can enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding. After spending minutes to the summit then descend down to Saddle Hut for taking breakfast and little rest before proceeding down to reach Miriakamba Hut for spending the overnight.

Day 4: Miriakamba Hut 2500m – Momela Gate – Arusha
Duration: 2 to 3 hours of walking
After morning breakfast descend down to Momela gate ready for drive back to Arusha.
