Mikumi National Park is among the southern national park situated in in Morogoro Tanzania. Named after a spindle shaped plant the Borassus palm tree called Mikumi by natives. The park transected by the surface highway between Dar es Salaam, Morogoro to Iringa and Mbeya.

Mikumi covers an area approximately 3230 sq km and it borders the Selous game reserve. The Mkata Plain is the popular area of the park which support large number of wild animals include buffaloes, zebra, wildebeest, giraffes, impala, hartebeest, roan, sable, great kudu.

Other wild animals found in Mikumi are leopard, lion, jackal, hippos, crocodiles, wild dog and bird species. The park accessed easily from Dar es Salaam or Morogoro by road and flight.
